The Economic Policy Research Center (EPRC) Uganda and INCLUDE (the Knowledge Platform for Inclusive Development in Africa) are organizing the Social Protection for Inclusive Growth in Africa conference in Kampala, Uganda, on 21 June 2018.

Various high-level policymakers, politicians, scientists and practitioners from Uganda and other countries will present country experiences during this evidence-based discussion on the cost-effectiveness of social protection programmes.

Janat Mukwaya, the Uganda’s Minister for Gender, Labor and Social Development is expected to  officiate at the opening with the Dutch Ambassador to Uganda.

Drawing on experiences from Kenya, Ghana, South Africa and more, the conference will discuss ’what works and why‘ and address pertinent policy questions on financing and coordination of social protection interventions.

Further, the conference will involve discussions on how social protection programs can contribute to achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Agenda 2063 (African Union).

The conference shall be preceded by a business meeting for the INCLUDE Platform Members on 20 June 2018. This meeting will serve as an important opportunity to discuss the ongoing mutual partnership and collaboration between the members as well as the future of INCLUDE.
