EPRC takes up new project on AID Management and Fiscal Policy for Inclusive Growth
EPRC has been selected as one of the six institutions to implement the African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) Project on transformational studies. The new project to be implemented in six countries including: Uganda, Ghana, Tanzania, Zambia, Burkina Faso and Rwanda will assess how countries have been accessing external development finance in the past decade in light of the changing external environment, examine how government systems (institutional structures, processes and coordination) are adapting the intermediate targets of external resource inflows and how to ensure efficient mobilization and allocation of development finance.
In addition the project will assess how countries are engaging and managing the new state and non-state actors, and the extent to which traditional donors are adapting and aligning their in-country assistance programs in the new external development financing environment. Finally, the studies will explore the scope of the use of technology platforms to enhance the availability, quality, and timeliness of data that will enhance monitoring and evaluation of the use of development finance.
An inception meeting to review and refine the country survey instruments by participating countries was held in Ghana from 6th to 8th May, 2015. The meeting was attended by representatives from the ministries of finance and the think tanks from participating countries. Uganda was represented by Ministry of Finance Planning and Economic Development (MFPED) and Dr. Ezra Munyambonera, a Research Fellow at the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC)- the implementer’s of the study project.
