The Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) held its 12th Annual General Meeting at the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED) on Thursday August 20, 2026. It focused on the evidence needed to drive Uganda’s ambitious National Development Plan IV (NDP IV) and ten-fold economic growth strategy.
The meeting was chaired by Board of Directors Chairperson Dr. Ramathan Ggoobi. It was attended by the Minister of Finance Hon. Henry Musasizi and Makerere University Vice Chancellor Prof Barnabas Nawangwe. Makerere University and Ministry of Finance are the shareholders of EPRC on behalf of Government of Uganda.
Dr. Ggoobi commended the Centre’s growing credibility in policy research and knowledge brokerage.
EPRC Executive Director Dr. Sarah N. Ssewanyana noted a surge in demand for the Centre’s research, highlighted by an expanding network of state and non-state partners. She also stressed the significant data gaps across several NDP IV programme areas.
“The 10-fold growth strategy demands more evidence to inform its implementation, monitoring, and evaluation,” Dr. Ssewanyana said, affirming the Centre’s commitment for targeted research to bridge those critical gaps.
