On October 22nd, 2015, the Economic Policy Research Centre (EPRC) presented the results from the survey on “Dynamics of War to Peace Transition in Northern Uganda” at a seminar held at the Africa Development Bank headquarters in Abidjan, Cote Dviore.
The survey covered the sub regions of Acholi, Lango, West Nile and Karamoja and followed households surveyed in 2004 as well as 2008. Following twenty years of civil war and the return of peace in Northern Uganda in 2006, the survey investigates the dynamics of the war to peace transition in Northern Uganda and in particular, how the households have responded to the return of peace; how the transition is reflected in their livelihood patterns, asset accumulation, demographic and migration patterns, and their demand for services. Moreover, the survey analyzed the impact of government’s response (local and central) to the demand for social services of the population, notably health, education and infrastructure, as they return to more normal lives.
The presentation was made by the Principal Research Fellow, Ibrahim Kasirye.
