The Ugandan Economy Today (Quarter 4 April – June 2021)

During the quarter, the number of passengers using railway transport declined substantially by 35 percent compared to the January-March quarter. This was primarily driven by a substantial reduction in passengers using railway transport in June, following the government’s ban on public transport to curb the spread of COVID-19. Compared to the previous quarter, there was notable growth in the use of air transport for passengers and cargo in the quarter under review.
