Capacity Needs Assessment Workshop for Gender Data Users and Producers

On 18^th May 2023, EPRC under the UN -Women count II project held a capacity needs assessment workshop for gender data producers and users. The overall objective of the workshop was to establish the capacities of gender data users and producers in gender data compilation, analysis, and generation of user-friendly gender knowledge products, at both individual and institutional levels.  Over 12 institutions including government and non-government attended the workshop. From the plenary session, it was noted by participants that gender statistics is vital in monitoring gender indicators at both national and international levels. However, such gender statistics were not available, and this was of great concern even during the NDP III midterm review. There is a concern of gender data not being easily accessible by gender producing institutions. It was also noted that national gender statistics are not disaggregated by disability categories.  To this effect, EPRC under the auspices of the UN women count II pledged to support institutions to generate gender statistics through its training programme as well as the mentorship programme under the project.
