An increase in the price of goods and services affects business operations
The Business Climate Index (BCI) remained below full potential for the ninth consecutive quarter since the first quarter of 2020. Business perceptions in the current quarter (January-March 2022) declined slightly by 6 basis points from 86 in the previous quarter (October-December 2021) to 80 in the current quarter (January-March 2022). The decline in business sentiments was primarily driven by a slight decline in capacity utilisation, increased product costs, salary, and a decline in the general business environment.
On a sector basis, there was a decline in the condition for doing business in the manufacturing and agriculture sector and a slight improvement in the services sector.
