African Population and Health Research Centre and Priceless Africa: Developing a package of effective regulatory interventions for healthier food environment in Uganda April 2020-2022
Obesity has tripled in adults and doubled among children and adolescents in low and middle-income countries. This study aims to identify concrete context-relevant priority actions that promote healthy food environment as a strategy to enhance healthy dietary patterns and practices that facilitate knowledge translation pathways, to prevent nutrition related non-communicable diseases.
The Objectives of the study are;
- To establish gaps in existing evidence related to the development and implementation of public policies and government actions on internationally recommended interventions to promote healthy diets in Uganda
- To identify barriers and facilitators for development and implementation of food environments in Uganda
- To estimate the economic burden of selected NR-NCD in Uganda
- To use policy review, and legal and administrative feasibility assessments to design context specific interventions
