This year, the AGSF IV will be held during the Africa Statistics Week during which the Gender Statistics Web Portal will be launched. The policy briefs represent an important milestone in making development in Uganda more inclusive and sustainable.

According to the organizers, the primary objective of the forum is to launch the Gender Statistics Web Portal and disseminate two policy briefs on Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) Indicator 5.c.1.  This indicator contributes to the “Proportion of countries with systems to track and make public allocations for Gender Equality and Women’s Empowerment”.  It measures Uganda’s progress towards Target 5c of the SDGs to “adopt and strengthen sound policies and enforceable legislation for the promotion of gender equality and the empowerment of all women and girls at all levels”. The policy briefs will be discussed by high profile representatives from the Ministry of Finance, Planning and Economic Development (MoFPED), and the Equal Opportunities Commission (EOC).

The event which will enjoy a live coverage by NBS TV, will also be relayed via online platforms including social media and zoom. The forum provides a platform for knowledge sharing, networking, and the appreciation of gender statistics. It targets multisectoral stakeholders including Government, Civil Society, Private Sector, research and academia and development partners and the media.  The AGSF has been held annually since 2017.
