The EPRC Board of Management has applauded and rewarded two young researchers for excellent performance during the 2015/16 Research Year and also, recognized researchers who successfully represented the Centre at international research contests.

Paul Lakuma and Joseph Mawejje, both Research Analysts were presented with the “Best Young Researchers’ Award”. Lakuma was also recognized for emerging the Best Exchange Rate Forecaster for Uganda in the 2016 Focus Economics Analyst Forecast Awards.

Relatedly, Mildred Barungi a Research Fellow with the Sectoral department was commended for emerging among the top three contestants at the 17th Global Development Network (GDN) poster competition.

Speaking on behalf of the Board, during a brief ceremony held on Wednesday, August 25, 2016 at the Centre, Prof. Grace Bantebya Kyomuhendo, the Chair of the Research Advisory Panel of the board, appreciated the quality of publications by EPRC researchers. She encouraged all researchers and the entire staff to keep the high standard and quality of work exhibited. Bantebya pledged continued recognition of excellent performance and reminded all staff that more is expected from them by alluding to a famous Luganda saying “Gakyali Mabaga” literally meaning “it is just the beginning”.
