EPRC Signs New Research Partnership with KAPSARC

Nairobi – On 19th August 2014, the Executive Director of EPRC Dr. Sarah Ssewanyana signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Dr. Muhammad Saggaf, President of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Centre (KAPSARC).

Within the MoU, EPRC and KAPSARC will jointly undertake research on oil and natural resources in Uganda. The  research will focus on five key areas: i) macroeconomic effects of resource booms in Uganda; ii) distribution of resource rents between the host country and  foreign direct investment; iii) local content regulations, trade barriers, and downstream integration; and v) environmental and social impacts of extractive industries.

The signing took place at the East Africa Natural Resource Discoveries and the Dynamics of Economic Development workshop held at Norfolk Hotel in Nairobi.
